Stretching The Imagination

In this exhibition Wendy and Leszek present a selection of their creative output. They differ in approach to subject matter and thought process but aim to generate a visual feast of colour, form and composition.

Their work forms a contemplative response to the world around them and is in Wordsworth’s poetry, ‘it is a spontaneous overflow of powerful feeling taking it’s origin from emotion and recollected in tranquility.’

A Rural Perspective

An exhibition of paintings by artists May Jones and Malcolm Tait

Both artists live and work in the village of Addlethorpe in the East of the County. Addlethorpe is a rural community; the main mass of the Parish is located about one mile inshore of the flat sandy East Coast Lincolnshire beaches but at one point a finger of land extends out from its bulk and reaches down to the sea.

The work of both artists are strongly influenced by the environment around them, for May the inspiration for her collage and painting come from the colours, textures and patterns that she finds in East Lincolnshire landscape and particularly in its flora. Through this awareness of her surroundings May explores life and regeneration through the changing colours of the landscape as the annual cycle of growth and regeneration evolves. In the minutiae of flower head, leaf, petal and seed head observed throughout the year May locates the textures and colours that inspire her.

Malcolm has had a lifelong interest in how we know who we are, what makes us who we are. In this exhibition his work looks at the influences the landscape we inhabit has on us. In the word “landscape” Malcolm explores not just the terrain and how it is shaped by natural forces but also the people who shape it, those who are shaped by it and how it is read, disseminated and understood through the work of writers, poets and other artists.

‘Upping The Anti’

The Summer Show

The show brings together works by members of the Lincolnshire Artists Society. The Society which was established in 1906 currently has over 100 members drawn from across the County. Members work in a wide range of different styles and media, so that their collective shows are always vibrant varied colourful and fun! There is an excitement about the opportunity to show in Lincoln so look forward to works that will be being shown for the first time.

The show will be open everyday from June 26^th to July 8^th with the exception of Monday 2^nd July from 10 am -4pm.There will a chance to see the show and take tea with members of the Society on Saturday 30^th June from 3.00pm .

A diverse mixture of mediums; glass, ceramics, metalwork and mixed media.
Sketchbooks and design development is an important part of the the design process leading to the finished objects so we will be incorporating ours in the show.

The Irby group is a group of artists who paint together during the winter months, who value their interaction based on many years of experience, enthusiasm and expertise while retaining individual styles and approaches to their paintings.

“Mind’s Eye”

An exhibition that showcases the work of artists Marianne Nixey and Bob Oakes.  Both paint and metal have their own flow/fluidity which each artist manipulates to create pieces that are more than a direct representation of the real, images have been sublimated and then crafted to incorporate the ideals and emotions of the artist.
