'Lines Across Lincolnshire' by Denise Hawthorne and Friends

Lincolnshire has a rich and varied landscape from the undulating Wolds, huge skies of the Fens to the long sandy  beaches on the coast.

The photographer Jon Fox has produced two beautifully illustrated books exploring all aspects of the county and we have permission to use “Lines Across Lincolnshire”,  the title of his second volume ,as a starting point for our exhibition.

The artist Denise Hawthorne is the main exhibitor in this exhibition and she has  invited  the friends who attend her weekly classes to each submit two pieces of work.

Every artist responds to their  environment  in a unique and personal way, and this leads to a varied and exciting exhibition of paintings and studies in a variety of media.

Denise Hawthorne taught Art and Design in the County for many years. She is member of Lincolnshire Artists, the Nadin Group and Art on the Map,  exhibiting  regularly with each of these groups.  Since retiring from Lincolnshire College she has worked with adult students in weekly classes and occasional day workshops.

Denise says if you give ten people the same experimental starting point there will be ten different outcomes, and it is this diversity that is celebrated in the exhibition.
